How to Plan a Stress Free Honeymoon

When planning a wedding and honeymoon, the feeling of overwhelm and stress can creep in really quickly.

Follow the tips below to help ease the overwhelm in planning your honeymoon.

1. Consider waiting a few days after your wedding before departing! Getting married on a Saturday? I recommend waiting until Monday or Tuesday to depart for your honeymoon. This will give you some time to rest and relax a bit after just having your amazing wedding before jumping right into your honeymoon travels.

2. Plan Early. The earlier the better! If you already have your heart set on an over-the-water bungalow or a specific highly sought-after hotel, you’ll want to get those reservations secured up to two years in advance to avoid the risk of being sold out. The earliest you can book flights is 10 months from your departure date. I can take care of all of these details for you.

3. Discuss what you think your dream honeymoon will look like.  Make sure it works for both of you. Maybe your fiance wants to play golf and you want to go to the spa. Maybe you want an oceanview room and he wants to be sure there’s room service! Knowing these things in advance is so helpful.

4. Ensure your passports are valid. Passports with at least six months validity post travel are required and considered valid for most international travel. Jessica’s extra PRO TIP: As excited as you are to update your passport to your new married name – DON’T change your name on your passport until it expires. You can still travel with your maiden name and it will save you money from renewing your passport.

5. Work with a professional. As a travel advisor – I make all of the above recommendations to my clients and so much more. I am available to my clients to ask any questions throughout the planning process. No googling necessary! I help alleviate the stress and overwhelm that can come from planning the honeymoon and make the process easy and fun!
