5 Musts for Your First Trip to Alaska

There’s a reason that Alaska is a bucket list destination for so many people. When you see photos of Alaska, they are absolutely majestic – and you just can’t help but want to experience it for yourself.

From snow capped mountains and glaciers to whale sightings and bald eagles, there’s just so much to see and experience in Alaska. But taking your first trip can be so overwhelming – where do you start? As a travel advisor, who has traveled to Alaska myself, I help guide my clients through every step of their trip. From must-do activities to packing suggestions, I provide guidance and travel tips so my clients are completely ready for their first trip to Alaska. Here are my Top 5 Musts for your first trip to Alaska.

See Alaska From a Cruise Ship
Everyone knows that the state of Alaska is massive.  But did you know it’s as wide as the lower states and larger than Texas, California, and Montana combined. It’s impossible to be able to see and do everything on your first trip to Alaska – so I always suggest taking an Alaskan Cruise to get a great sampling of some of the most bucket list Alaskan Adventures.

Bring Binoculars
Expect to see the most amazing variety of wildlife that you just can’t see anywhere else. Not only will you have an opportunity to spot bears, but you may also encounter moose, bald eagles, Alaskan salmon, harbor seals, sea lions, and, my favorite sighting, humpback and orca whales!

Book a Balcony Cabin
While you could go out onto your cruise ship’s deck to view wildlife and glaciers, there’s nothing quite as impressive and memorable as spotting a breaching whale and hearing the white thunder of glacier’s calving from your own private balcony on your Alaskan Cruise. Grab your binoculars, a cup of hot cocoa and your favorite cozy blanket and take it all in.

Wear Layers & Great Shoes
Alaskan weather is hard to predict and can change from day to day! And while I don’t suggest lugging your entire closet from home, it is essential to wear layers and have comfortable shoes for walking. If you’re cruising by glaciers while on your ship you may want to put on that hat, gloves and scarf, but while exploring a quaint Alaskan town you may want to peel off that outer layer, wear short sleeves and take a hike.

Have Plenty of Camera Battery
More than anything on your Alaskan Adventure, you can expect to take a ton of pictures to capture all of those once-in-a-lifetime memories, so the last thing you want to do is run out of battery! I suggest bringing a spare battery – and plenty of charging devices.  Be prepared to come home with a camera full of stunning photos that might include mountains, whales and even the most adorable dog sledding puppies.

If Alaska isn’t on your bucket list – it should be! And if it’s been on your bucket list for a while, it’s time to experience it for yourself and get it checked off your bucket list! Let’s book your Alaskan Cruise today!

8 Great Reasons to Book Disney with a Travel Agent

Planning a trip to Disney takes a lot of thought and planning. That’s why you’re using a travel agent, right? Even with the best laid plans, one can encounter a bump or two along the way.

Here are some common mistakes we see at the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’, and 8 great reasons to use a travel agent to book Disney:

Mistake #1 – Not reserving table service meals in advance. You’ll absolutely need to make a reservation for sit down meals 60/180 days prior to your arrival. And, beware…they go fast, especially signature and character experiences.

Mistake #2 – Not using mobile order. If quick service dining is preferred, we encourage you to order using your device in advance. Payment via this method is contactless and all you have to do is pick up your order and go.

Mistake #3 – Not budgeting in advance. This is especially true for food and merchandise. Scope out menus ahead of time and don’t impulse purchase. Try to go in with a PLAN and a budget and stick to it.

Mistake #4 – Overpacking. You don’t need four pairs of shoes and two pairs of Mickey ears per day! Make and stick to a packing list, but don’t forget essentials! Sure, you can find them on property, but at a premium.

Mistake #5 – Over planning. Prioritize your parks and attractions, but don’t pen anything in. Variables like weather and crowds could quickly derail a day that has been booked down to the minute. Be sure to plan for breaks with all of that walking!

Mistake #6 – Ignoring the forecast. Monitor the weather in location prior to departure and adjust accordingly. Likely rain gear will be needed for summers, and a sweater, sweatshirt or jacket needed for cooler winter nights.

Mistake #7 – Visiting at the wrong time. As a rule of thumb, holidays, school breaks, summer, and weekends will bring the crowds. If they’re too much for you and/or you prefer a more relaxed vibe, check out other times of the year.

Mistake #8 – Wearing the wrong shoes! You should not purchase those cool new sneaks specifically for this trip. New shoes are culprits for a world of hurt, and Band-Aids. Stick with pairs that are broken in and comfy.

There you go, the mistakes we see most often! We can help you avoid all of these and more. Reach out when you’re ready to plan your next trip to Disney or Disney experience. Remember to book well in advance, even six to nine months before travel!

Bonus! How do you make the right Disney property selection?

Staying on Disney property is certainly our recommendation. At the end of the day Disney is always telling a story, right? Well, the resorts on property certainly aren’t an exception. Plus, staying on property comes with perks that hotels off site just don’t have. Added value! With more than 25 resorts, how do you select the one that is best for your family? Here’s a quick look!

Disney separates its resorts into four categories – value, moderate, deluxe and villas (usually part of the Disney Vacation Club). Pricing, features onsite and availability of certain amenities start off pretty basic and add on from there.

Value – Pretty basic rooms and baths. Recreation and dining are limited – think large pool and food court. Transport is typically going to be via bus.

Moderate – Rooms here are larger and in different configurations as is the bath. View options, pools, recreation, and dining are a little more robust. Bus transport is typical here, but you might find a property with a boat.

Deluxe – Most posh rooms! Types and sizes can vary. The main draw is the proximity to the parks. This is as close as it gets! A park could be a quick walk or monorail ride away.

Villas – We’ll keep things simple here. Villas are a part of the Disney Vacation Club program (but can be booked for cash). Bath and bed configuration can vary by room size, but everything else is like a deluxe property.

Evaluate each category as described and make your selection based on the needs of your family. Need help in choosing which is best for you and your family? Let us guide you each step of the way!

Expedition EverestThere are a bunch of fun facts about Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Most notably, it’s the tallest attraction on property. But did you know that despite its name, riders aren’t actually navigating Mount Everest? Instead, it holds the fictitious name of Forbidden Mountain. Disney Imagineers created it just for the storyline of the attraction! Riding forward…Riding backward (in the dark)…An 80 foot drop. Yikes! Do you love or hate Everest, um Forbidden Mountain?

Haunted MansionAs you weave through the Haunted Mansion queue pay close attention. The names on the tombstones are those of Imagineers! Some even worked on the build of the attraction itself! Another fun fact, as you exit there’s a pet cemetery. Towards the back there’s a tribute to Mr. Toad! Besides it’s 999 happy haunts, there’s a hidden Mickey inside the Haunted Mansion! And, while the mouse himself is the most widely available, you might spot Stitch or Simba at some spots as well! We love Mickey waffles! What’s your favorite Disney snack?

MonorailThere are three different monorail lines. The Epcot line connects guest to Epcot via the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). The Resort line stops at Magic Kingdom, all three surrounding resorts and the TTC. The Express line is a direct connect between MK and the TTC. If the Express line is too long, hop on the Resort line if there’s a much shorter wait time and only make one additional stop at the Contemporary! The classic. The monorail. It’s our favorite. Is it yours too?

PandoraThe stunning Pandora – World of Avatar. The film’s writer and director James Cameron played an integral role in the design of this land in Animal Kingdom as did producer Jon Landeau. They were joined by legendary Imagineer Joe Rohde. Did you know they left a little easter egg at the exit of Flight of Passage? Keep an eye out for it during your next visit! Flight of Passage. Pandora’s must-do attraction. Do you rope drop it? Or save it for your last attraction before close?

Spaceship EarthSpaceship Earth or as some call it, “the giant golf ball” is the very first ride that we take when visiting Epcot. We just can’t get over the fact that we travel in there! Imagineering at it’s finest. What is the first attraction on your list when visiting Epcot? What’s your favorite scene on Spaceship Earth? Rome burning? The Phoenicians?

They were the Grand Prix Raceway and Skyway to Fantasyland, which, sadly, no longer exists. Rank your favorites! Choices – Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover and Carousel of Progress.

Tower of TerrorThe Imagineers on the attraction watched every single episode of The Twilight Zone for inspiration, and it can be seen in the attraction’s queue area. There are a ton of easter eggs and the attention to detail is incredible. You might even spot some props used in actual episodes! The story of the hotel is that it was struck by lightning, and that’s the state you see it in. Do you know what date that strike occurred?

Tree of LifeWe encourage you to take the time and explore the paths that surround the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. They’re often overlooked as most others head straight for the main attractions. 19 Reasons to Love Jamaica

Jamaica is a Caribbean Island steeped in history, culture and beauty that welcomes just over 4 million visitors each year. With the national motto of “Out of Many, One People” and unofficial motto of “One Love” you can expect to be welcomed warmly.

And what is there not to love? Endless white‐sand beaches, covered by lush foliage and crisscrossed by streaming rivers and cascading waterfalls. Capturing the essence of this enchanted paradise, there are so many all-inclusive resorts and vacation experiences in Jamaica. Come experience the warm hospitality and natural beauty this country is known for. Featuring some of the world’s best beaches, such as Negril’s Seven-Mile Beach, amazing scuba dive sites, and exciting experiences including adventure tours, championship golf and world-class dining, is it any wonder that Jamaica was ranked in 2019, the #1 Caribbean Destination and the #14 Best Destination In The World by Tripadvisor?

19 Reasons to Love Jamaica

RastafariDid you know that Rastas live a Rastafari lifestyle based on so much more than just wearing dreadlocks and smoking ganja? Rastafari actually began as a political and religious movement in the 1930s by descendants of African slaves that were converted to Christianity but combines Protestant Christianity with pan-African political consciousness and mysticism. Besides their dreadlocks, you may notice that their primary wardrobe is made up of the colors red, green, gold, and black which are the colors of their flag. They also live a close-to-nature life with a vegetarian diet.

Even though Jamaica is synonymous with Rastafari because of Bob Marley, there is only about one percent of the Jamaican population that actually identify as Rastafari.

Red StripeAn iconic symbol of Jamaica, Red Stripe beer was created and first brewed in 1928. But the version you can find now when vacationing in Jamaica was formulated in 1938.

I love when a favorite product is combined with a good cause. The Desnoes and Geddes Foundation, named for Red Stripe’s inventors, runs a program called Learning for Life Programme which helps to teach hospitality, retail, entrepreneurship, and bartending.

Carnival CostumeSoca music, parades, and costumes! Carnival in Jamaica is an experience like none other. This celebration happens across the country from Kingston to Ocho Rios. Be sure to plan in advance to get tickets to the best fetes also known as parties.

Carnivals began as celebrations among enslaved Africans as a way to have their own parties while their European settler owners hosted glamourous balls. They often included rituals and dances as well as elaborate costumes. The Carnival of Jamaica became an official celebration across the country in 1990 by Jamaican musician Byron Lee.

Montego Bay ResortFrom the ideal honeymoon with an overwater bungalow to a celebratory anniversary trip, Jamaica is the perfect getaway for romance.

Think differently about romance and luxury. Why not surprise your partner with a private bungalow over the Caribbean Sea? Enjoy your own hammock for relaxing and great views of the marine life with glass bottom floors as you take your luxurious vacation to the next level.

Heart Montego Bay SignMontego Bay is a favorite Caribbean destination for more than 4 million passengers each year. And now you can commemorate your visit with a picture of the “I love Montego Bay!” sign. One of my favorite places in the Caribbean. I Love Montego Bay!

Bamboo RaftSee Jamaica from a different perspective as you board a 30-foot bamboo raft with a local guide that will tell you stories or sing you a song as you relax and float down the Martha Brae River.

Legend says that Martha Brae town and river got its name from a Taino witch that was tortured by Spanish settlers looking for a chest of gold. After she shared the location of it, she used her witchcraft to change the path of the river and sealed the entrance to the cave full of gold. While we may never know if there really is gold, you can be sure that you will get an entertaining story from your guide as you float down that same river on a bamboo raft.

Dunn’s River FallsOriginal Arawak settlers had a name for places like Dunn’s River Falls called Xayamaca which means land of rivers and springs. And Dunn’s River Falls lives up to that name with its 180 feet of beautiful cascading waters. I highly recommend you plan an excursion or day trip to see and climb the falls on your next Jamaican getaway.

For a unique adventure in Jamaica, consider a day trip to Dunn’s River Falls. You can join a tour group led by local guides that know the falls like the back of their hand. Work together to form a human chain and help each other climb the falls with fun stops in natural pools along the way.

Water and Palm TreesDid you know that Jamaica has more than 900 kilometers, or 560 miles, of coastline? From big beach resorts to small family-run properties, you are bound to find a vacation spot that will give you a chance to enjoy a stretch of that coastline and beach while you gaze out across the Caribbean Sea.

Imagine…you are in the perfect beach chair on Seven Mile Beach with a cool breeze blowing in off the Caribbean Sea and a cocktail in your hand. Do you smell the sea? Do you hear the waves?

Negril Cliff and WaterBesides the perfect movie backdrop, the Negril Cliffs are something to behold as they tower 40 feet above the water. And they are a great spot to watch a magical sunset given their location on the west end of the island.

Negril may be known for its beaches, but it also is a favorite spot for the adventure of cliff diving. Enjoy watching locals soar over the edge of the cliffs into the water or the brave traveler having a go at the experience.

SurferDid you know that you could learn to surf on your next Jamaican vacation? Gentle waves near Port Antonio make it a great place for beginners to take a lesson.

American surfer Laird Hamilton once said, “The biggest sin in the world would be if I lost my love for the ocean.”

Ocho Rios Green Bank and White BoatOcho Rios is considered the more natural and tranquil option when considering where to vacation in Jamaica. Its highlights like Dunn’s River Falls and Mystic Mountain Rainforest are just a couple of the natural wonders that attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

Ocho Rios is assumed to mean eight rivers based on its Spanish settlers and is lovingly referred to by locals as Ochi. But did you know that there are actually only four rivers that run through the town: Dunn’s River, Cave River, Roaring River and Turtle River.

Blue MountainsThe Blue Mountains of Jamaica are a must see for nature lovers. The flora and fauna are unmatched with its greater than 800 species of plants and more than 200 bird species. See how many you can spot on one of the many hiking trails.

While there are some great hiking trails, the more advanced hikers need to remember to bring their machete to work their way through some of the tougher trails.

Coffee Mug and BeansIs there such a thing as luxury coffee? Blue Mountain Coffee is some of the most sought-after beans in the world as they are still hand-picked, and hand inspected.

“May your coffee kick in before reality does.” – Anonymous

Treasure Beach BoatsFrom colorful boats to colorful fish, Treasure Beach is an off-thebeaten-path area in Jamaica with a 200-year fishing village history. Its beautiful location has resisted big resort development but is becoming a must-visit destination.

Off the south coast of Jamaica lies Treasure Beach known for its fresh seafood. Visitors often wait anxiously for fishermen to return with the freshest catch of the day.

DrummerDrums were initially used by slaves as a way to communicate but have long since evolved to be a symbol of Rasta worship as well as an important part of reggae music.

The undeniable sound of the reggae one drop rhythm is one that can easily help get you into vacation mode as you relax on the beach.

Craft MarketTake a stroll through one of Jamaica’s Craft Markets to find the best in local crafts, hand painted pieces or even fresh fruits and vegetables.

From Kingston Market on the waterfront to the Harbour Street Craft Market in Montego Bay, you can find all the best handmade souvenirs like dolls, fans, dresses and more.

Wedding CoupleNoted as one of the most romantic places in the world, Jamaica is a top choice for destination weddings and honeymoons. Leave your worries behind as you make beautiful and romantic island memories.

Warm weather, beautiful beaches, and stunning waterfalls are just a few of the reasons why Jamaica is known as a top location for destination weddings.

Reggae FallsOne of the best kept secrets of Jamaica is Reggae Falls located in St. Thomas Parish. Take a day trip from Kingston to enjoy the beautiful falls and warm spring pools.

Reggae Falls is known by the locals as Damhead and was created around 1920 to power a hydroelectricity station. It is a quiet retreat that is visited mostly by locals but welcoming to visitors alike.

Bob Marley MuralBob Marley is often thought of as one of the fathers of reggae and was known to marry reggae beats with ska music.

Aside from his music, Bob Marley was well known for his efforts to fight for peace and justice. His efforts earned him the United Nations’ Peace Medal of the Third World.

Bobsled ModelJamaica gained notoriety in 1988 when its army recruited athletes and sent its first bobsled team to the Winter Olympics.

“Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme. Get on up, its bobsled time.” – Cool Runnings Movie

I just returned from a truly breathtaking 8 day trip to Kenya, my husband and I felt that we were fairly prepared for our journey. I read lots of blogs/ packing lists and watched the weather obsessively. But nothing can truly prepare you for a trip like our Best of Kenya Safari with Liberty Africa Safaris.

We had a general idea that we would be bouncing around the country and be outdoors most of our days. So we packed accordingly, boots, tennis shoes, neutral colors, light jackets, sunglasses and LOTS OF bug spray were the highlights of what we packed.

What we failed to realize or look into is HOW far we would be traveling throughout Kenya. We were in multiple climate zones within hours somedays. (all without air conditioning) this was a bit of an issue. I neglected to pack hats ( thankfully they were gifted to us by our Safari guides) I also forgot to bring sunscreen – I knew our days had the potential to be overcast and rainy. I did not anticipate seeing the sun much at all. And in fact it was rare BUT our malaria medicine made us VERY susceptible to the sun’s rays = sunburn.  I also forgot a rain jacket for myself ( we had one very rainy day ) where we still went on our game drive ( outdoors)

Preparing for a Safari sounds hard; in all honesty it was much easier than I led myself to believe. I wish I would have packed more shorts and less pants, but again the weather report and climate zones misled me.  So in short, here is a recap of things I’d suggest packing for your week long safari in Kenya:

( keep in mind your safari company will probably want you to bring soft sided luggage as it is easier to squish into your 4×4 vehicles )

What to pack:

light weight shirts ( button down or half zips ) – I packed a linen shirt and a PFG shirt
Hiking boots ( with ankle support ) to help on uneven surfaces / feces covered surfaces / ant hills
taller socks for the above reasons
sports bras for the ladies ( lots of rough roads and bouncing around )
Rain Jacket – preferable one of those fold into a pouch types
one pair of lightweight hiking pants
one pair of jeans
light weight pajamas ( no AC – can be hot and sticky at night )
Wide brimmed hat
Sunglasses
layering tops ( tank tops / tshirts / longsleeves )
Sunscreen / bug repellent / first aid kit / motion sickness meds
Plug converters
lots of charging banks ( our safari vehicle did have USB chargers but this may not always be the case)
refillable water bottle ( of course you cannot drink the water in Kenya ) but you will have a water station in your hotel and safari vehicle for refills!

I hope this was helpful for you if you are  preparing for your upcoming Africa trip, keep following along as a post a recap of our trip to Kenya.

Happy Travels

Taking Advantage of Sea Days on a Disney Cruise

Cruising is a great way to see many destinations in one vacation! One of the best things about a cruise is stopping at different ports and having a unique adventure at each stop. But what do you do when you have a full day at sea? If you are like me you might worry you will get bored but let me tell you there is so much to do you will find you have to prioritize your wish list!

My family recently went on a Disney Cruise aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship and we had 3 full days at Sea. Here is what we did while cruising the Caribbean.

Pool Time

The Disney Magic cruise ship has 3 unique pools and 2 amazing slides all on the top deck of the ship. There is a dedicated adult-only pool, a pool right in front of a big screen TV that plays movies all day, and a fun splash pad and wading pool combination perfect for the little ones on board. No matter who you are you are bound to find a spot you enjoy.

For my family the wading pool and water slide reigned supreme – my son rode the water slide over 25 times in a row one afternoon!

Character Greetings

One of the best parts of a Disney cruise is you never know who you will run into while wandering the ship. We love meeting all of the classic characters, princesses, and even met numerous Marvel heroes.

Kids Clubs

Disney has a program for kids ages 6 months through 17 so no matter the age of your kid they are sure to find a place on the ship to call their own. My littlest spent time in the It’s a Small World Nursery almost every day of the cruise. There is a small surcharge for kids to be in the nursery but it was less than we would pay for a sitter at home and the quality of care and personalized attention she received was so worth it. She loved her time here playing with others her age, napping in the arms of cast members, meeting characters, and creating crafts to take home. We were so thankful she loved her time here because it gave us opportunities to do adult-only activities onboard.

My older kiddo is 4 now and he had an absolute blast playing in the Oceaneer Club and Lab which are open to children ages 3-12. During his time in the kids club he participated in Pluto’s Pajama Party, learned how to shoot webs from Spiderman, helped Stich capture his crazy cousins around the ship, and so much more. Seriously the kids club is THE BEST place on board and my son would spend all his time here if we let him.

Movies and Broadway Style Shows

One of the best features of a Disney Cruise is the incredible Broadway style shows that are performed in the Walt Disney Theater. While on this ship we enjoyed 3 unique shows including Tangled the Musical, Twice Enchanted a twist on the Cinderella story, and Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic. I loved each of the shows and highly recommend you take advantage of them if you cruise with Disney.

In addition to the live shows, Disney ships all have a movie theater and a Funnel Vision screen near the pool where you can watch new releases and fan favorites. We spent a lot of time on deck watching various movies and members of our group went to the movie theater to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which was released in theaters while we were cruising.

Beer Tasting

One thing that might surprise you is that there are numerous adult-exclusive areas on the ship and tons of activities dedicated to adult activities. We took full advantage of our kids playing in their own clubs for some down time for ourselves. One of the favorite things we did was a Beer Tasting event held in the O’Gills Pub. If you aren’t a beer fan there are plenty of other opportunities including wine, champagne, and liquor tastings as well as opportunities to take mixology classes to learn how to create your own amazing cocktails.

Family Time in the Kids Club Open Houses

We loved going to the kids clubs during open house hours to have some fun family time. During select hours the clubs open up to all guests and host fun events. Two of the events we did as a family were creating Stich’s Goo and Exploding Volcanos. Both events were a ton of fun and we loved doing them onboard where someone else was responsible for cleaning up the mess afterwards!

Deck Parties and Fireworks at Sea

Last but certainly not least we participated in numerous deck parties! This is probably my personal favorite part of any Disney Cruise because I LOVE dancing and we all have such a good time together as a family at each event. The Magic hosted a fun Sail-A-Wave Party on embarkation day and our family dominated the dance floor! The party is so fun because they bring out all the characters and get everybody excited to kickoff a great vacation. There was also a fun party for Pirate Night – where all passengers are encouraged to dress up as pirates. During the Pirates in the Caribbean deck party we danced with Captain Hook and all of the favorites while watching Fireworks at Sea. Talk about a magical moment on a family vacation!!

EVERYTHING ELSE

As if all that wasn’t enough, we still managed to fit even more into our trip. We participated in Disney trivia contests, played a family game show, tried our luck at Bingo, created crafts as a family, and ate a ton of ice cream every day of the trip. We had so much fun during our Disney Cruise vacation while at port and at sea that we honestly couldn’t tell you what we loved more. All I know is I am already actively searching for the next opportunity we have to take another Disney Cruise as a family because it really is an incredible vacation for everyone!

Happy Birthday at Atelier Playa Mujeres

Last month my husband celebrated his 40th birthday. I love celebrating birthdays so I planned a fun weekend at Atelier Playa Mujeres. If you are not familiar with this adults-only/all-inclusive resort you need to put it on your radar. It’s a beautiful resort located about 30 minutes north of Cancun.

Prior to this trip, my husband was not a big all-inclusive resort person. To be fair, he had only been to one resort. Years ago, he decided all-inclusive resorts were not his thing. However, he agreed to give it one more shot and visit Atelier for his birthday.

I’m happy to report, my husband very much enjoyed his time at Atelier.  We spent time at the beach, spa, sitting on our balcony and enjoying all the food/drinks. It was a great weekend to relax and celebrate.

I asked my husband what he liked about Atelier and he gave me a list. Here are a few of the things he liked about the resort.

Service. The service throughtout the resort was excellent. In our room, our fridge was not working. We made one call and within ten minutes the fridge was replaced with a new one. Also, my husband was never without a drink. He REALLY liked the beach service.
Food. We ate at four different restaurants. All were very good. We really enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar. The sushi maker and my husband became  friends.
Beach. We lounged at the beach every day. Although, we never got in the water we enjoyed the clean/safe beach.
Room. The bed was very comfortable. Sometimes the first night at a hotel is the worst. Not the case, we both slept great.
Birthday decorations. I paid for birthday decorates to be in our room. It was a nice surprise for my husband. It made him smile when we walked in our decorated room.

At the end of the trip I asked my husband if he would go back with me. He said…definitely.

Top 10 Things I Learned on my Adults Only – Girls Trip to Disney

Believe it or not my first trip to Disney was an adults only, girls weekend getaway! We escaped an artic blast in Oklahoma and found ourselves in the middle of Disney MAGIC!

I was always a Disney skeptic and had no real desire to go and I certainly didn’t believe in the ‘Magic of Disney,’ but at every turn I was proven wrong time and time again even as an adult!! We hit all the parks, and of couse drank around the world at Epcot which culminated in berets, Canada athleisure wear and zooming around Test Track at a cool 65mph. We ate, we drank, we rope dropped and we had the best time. Below I’ve put together a fun list of things you may need or to keep in mind for your adults only Disney vacation.

Bring Sunscreen (even in the winter months) – I totally failed on this one!
Take a day to bar hop at the resorts using the skyliner and the monorail as your transportation. So.Much. Fun.
Wear pants with pockets. You will be using your phone constantly. It’s just easier…trust.
Be flexible. Have a general plan for the day but know this is not set in stone…especially if your drinkning around the world at Epcot.
If you don’t know, ask. Seriously everyone is so nice. If it’s a Disney app issue look for the cast members under the blue umbrellas.
Magic Kingdom doesn’t have alcohol booths. Be prepared. IYKYK.
Bring snacks and a travel mug, most quick service locations will give you free cups of water. So stay hydrated!
Items are closer than they appear….on the map. The maps can be overwhelming, but I was surprised how close things felt comparatively.
Comfy shoes, motrin, bandaids….this is the ultimate trifecta. Make it your mantra and never be without any of these things. I warned you!
If on a girls’ trip consider pantyliners. Yep, I went there. We all know our pelvic floors aren’t what they use to be and it’s guaranteed someone in your group will pee themselves laughing. And this my friends, is the magic of Disney, not the pee of course, but the bonds it brings, the happiness it creates and the memories it makes.
